National Relays. City Rallies. Dallas Memorial March.
With the mission to provide active ways to honor and celebrate our nation’s heroes by connecting Americans to the sacrifices made by Military, Law Enforcement, Firefighters and First Responders, Carry The Load supports and hosts events throughout the year in which the public can participate.
Today, Carry The Load uses Memorial May leading into Memorial Day as the catalyst to bring awareness to our cause. These Memorial May Awareness events give Americans active ways to participate, donate and volunteer in honor of our nation’s heroes.
We encourage all Americans to do something meaningful on Memorial Day, even if it is simply stopping for the moment of remembrance to remember those families who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. The National Moment of Remembrance, established by Congress, asks Americans — wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day — to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The National Relay is a bi-coastal awareness event, which operates 24 hours a day, handing off the American flag every 5 miles of walking and/or cycling. The West coast route begins in Seattle, WA and covers 4300 miles, while the East coast route begins in Boston and jumps up to West Point, NY covering 2300 miles on the Memorial May journey towards Dallas. Both routes culminate in Dallas over Memorial Day weekend with a 20 hour event to honor and celebrate those who have given the ultimate sacrifice on Memorial Day.
Many cities across the country have joined our mission to honor our nations heroes during Memorial May. Some of these rallies are along the Relay route, where the relay bus and team will stop for an hour to celebrate local, hometown heroes. Other rallies are stand alone events that have grown organically to honor our heroes.
Dallas Memorial March
This event, in Carry The Load’s hometown of Dallas, is our flagship event and the culmination of the East and West Coast Relays. The Dallas Memorial March is a 20-hour Memorial Day event honoring service members and their families for the sacrifices they make. Participants join in the Memorial March at any time during the 20 hours and walk even for just a few minutes.
