Welcome to My Personal 2015 Carry the Load Page
Once again, I am participating in Carry The Load's "Memorial March", May 24th and 25th. Carry The Load is helping restore the true meaning of Memorial Day by focusing attention on the sacrifices made by our military, police, firefighters, and EMS personnel. In addition, funds raised provide support to local non-profits serving these groups. One in particular that most of you know I am very passionate about is Equest Therapeutic Horsemanship and their veterans program, "Hooves for Heroes".
All of us that participate are "Carrying" for someone, most notably one of our fallen heroes. I'm carrying for a special hero that happens to be part of America's "Greatest Generation." This year I will carry the load for Seaman 1/C Ralph T. Rowland. Seaman Rowland is my great uncle. He served on the USS Edsall (DD-219). He gave his life for our country in the Battle of the Java Sea on March 1, 1942. WWII ended 70 years ago so I thought it fitting that we should be remembering some of our "Greatest Generation" in this year's march.
Please consider making a contribution on my personal Carry the Load page at:
I am also marching with a team from several veteran services organizations this year – VSO United. Please consider visiting our team's site and contributing to our fundraising effort and/or registering to march with us: http://www.carrytheload.org/site/TR/2015/General?team_id=1913&pg=team&fr_id=1220
