Welcome to My Personal Page
Team Cajun cactus consists of my wife Martha, who is originally from Louisiana and has Cajun blood in her and me, Jerry, I am originally from Arizona and have cactus juice in me.
This will be our 5th year walking in Carry The Load together, for both of us last year was an unforgettable and moving experience in our lives and look forward to this Memorial Day, but not in a good way. After setting up our tent we started walking, Martha at a faster pace, me, rather slow, only 2-1/2 miles I began to suffer heat stroke. Paramedics came, treated me and drove Martha and I back to camp. A few hours later I still was not doing well ,so with help from some friends we broke camp and went home. We certainly want to do better this year.
I, Jerry, suffered a quad tendon rupture in my left knee in June 2017, just 2 weeks after that year's march, so I will walk as long and as far as I can. Martha will try to beat the 30 miles she walked last year.
We will both be carrying 4 Navy SEALS:
Ty Woods and Glen Doherty; both were working for the CIA Global Response Staff protecting the CIA annex in Benghazi, Libya and both died doing their duty on September 11, 2012.
Jonas Kelsall and Rob Reeves; they were high school buddies in Shreveport, Louisiana, both joined the Navy and became Seals at different times and both died together in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011 when their helicopter was shot down. Jonas and Rob were high school friends with our niece and nephew.
