Larry L. Jennings, Sr. started his service as a U.S. Marine in Vietnam. He then transitioned to the Navy, where he had eight Military Occupational Specialties, eventually settling on aviation. He was selected as “Sailor of The Year” and became E-2 of the Flight line in Norfolk Naval Base. His naval callsign was L.L. Cool J. Senior Chief Petty Officer Jennings, Sr. was deployed on many Carriers and was retired off the USS America.
Larry Jennings, Sr. was honest and always fair. He always sought the truth and instilled that your word was as good as gold. After retirement, he focused his love and attention on his grandchildren. After having his seventh grandson, he said, “Hot damn I have my own army!”
Larry was a good father and a good man and everyone that met Larry knew that about him. He unexpectedly passed away on Memorial Day 2022, after suffering with complications from Agent Orange poisoning. After he passed, everyone commented that he was truly a good man. Even after his death, it was said that “He was the type of man they write books about.”
