Donnovan Andrei Rodas Contreras was a proud Sergeant in the United States Army, bravely serving in the Iraq War and then until the day of his departure. He received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Iraq Campaign Medal.
Born and raised in California, Donnovan spent most of his adult life in Texas while serving. He was a cherished son, brother, father, and friend—a man of deep faith who found strength and guidance in his Bible. His love for the Lord and for those around him was unwavering.
Donnovan’s spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched. He is deeply missed, profoundly loved, and will never be forgotten. “Your legacy lives on in your grandson whom your son named after you; and in the memories we have of you,” says his sister-in-arms, Vanessa Lopez. One of his favorite sayings was, “Carry on, soldier.” In his honor, we promise to carry the load forward. We love you, brother.”
