About Frank R. Gross

Corporal Frank R. Gross completed Basic Training in 2010, earning the highest honor: Expert Marksman, as well as the Distinguished Honor Graduate Award. He was serving as a radio operator in the U.S. Army 2nd Battalion, 38th Cavalry Regiment, 504th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, when he died of wounds sustained by an improvised explosive device in Khost province, Afghanistan.

Frank cherished his family. Even when deployed overseas, he called home often and left this message, “Hi Mom and Daddio, just calling to say hi.” He loved the disciplined life of military service, following closely in both his grandfathers’ footsteps. He gave everything he did his very best.

Frank’s life verse was Colossians 3:23 “And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God….” It is written upon his grave, Section 60, gravesite 8311, Arlington National Cemetery, “Where valor rests.”
