About Harold C. Yax

Technician Fifth Grade Harold C. Yax served in the U.S. Army with the 707 Tank Battalion. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge where he was killed in action. The “Bulge” was Germany’s last major offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II. It was the largest and bloodiest single battle fought by the U.S. during WW II with 75,500 battle casualties, including 8,400 killed.

“I never met my father. I was only nine months old when he was killed. I know my mother loved him dearly. He served this nation to free the world from Hitler’s tyranny. Please never forget those who died to protect our freedom,” wrote Yax’s daughter Bonnie Cowand.
