About Paul A. Sweeney

Staff Sergeant Paul A. Sweeney was a Special Forces Communications Sergeant assigned to the Army’s Company A, 3rd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He was killed when his unit was ambushed while on patrol north of Musa, Qalax in Afghanistan. He was posthumously awarded the Silver Star for his actions that day. “I hope that everyone will remember his determination, kindness and carefree attitude, regardless of the situation. He would give anyone the shirt off his back without pause,” recalled his brother, Tim Sweeney. His legacy is carried on by his incredibly strong wife, Kristen, and his sons Sean and Ryan, both recent college graduates, who make their Father proud every day.
