Specialist Roy Brooks Mason II was a member of the U.S. Army 1/9 Infantry who served two tours of duty in Iraq and was a member of the former 4th Brigade Combat Team. SPC Mason was stationed at Fort Carson, CO and was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon.
Better known to his family and friends as “Brookie,” he had a contagious smile that lit up any room he entered. He loved fishing, was an avid video gamer and loved his cat “Smokey.” Most importantly, family was everything to him.
Brookie had the biggest heart and would help everyone in need. He lived life putting others before himself. This dedication to service and putting others before himself continued after his death with donations made in his honor made to the Disabled American’s Veterans organization.
