Attend these Memorial Day events in EBR on Thursday

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – Celebrate Memorial Day this year by attending one of several events taking place in East Baton Rouge Parish.

On Thursday, May 23, Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is inviting the community to a special tribute to veterans.

The tribute, called the Memorial Day Valor Gallery, will be on display at the Main Library at Goodwood starting at 9 a.m.

The Mayor’s Advisory Council on Veterans Affairs and the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the military.

Residents are invited to share photos and biographies of their veterans who died while serving to be displayed at the Main Library from May 23 to Memorial Day on May 27.

On Thursday, you may also notice more foot traffic in the Baton Rouge area.

Dozens of people are walking through the Capital City as apart of the Carry the Load national relay.
