Trekking To Dallas, Carry The Load Walks Through Area

A drizzle fell Wednesday evening as a group of walkers from Carry The Load traveled through Lower Bucks County.

The group of about a dozen were part of the nonprofit’s effort to travel 11,500 miles by foot and bicycle across America before Memorial Day. The team that came through Middletown and Langhorne Borough was traveling a 3,000-mile East Coast route that started in West Point, New York and will end on Memorial Day in Dallas.

Relay honoring military, firefighters stops in Red Bluff

RED BLUFF — Carry The Load, a relay to honor military, veterans and first responders, made a stop Monday at Cal Fire’s headquarters on Antelope Boulevard.

The location was used as an exchange point for the West Coast National Relay, which started in Seattle and will end in Dallas, said Cal Fire Public Information Officer Kevin Colburn. The group is a part of a national relay that spans the month of May with participants either walking or cycling. There are groups doing relays on the East Coast and in the Midwest that also will meet up in Dallas.

As he pedaled his way along Midway Road in rural Solano County Wednesday, Tom Wendling, a retired firefighter from Dallas, Texas was honoring the memory of fellow firefighter he had never met.

Wendling is volunteering his time and stamina as he rides in the 4,600-mile “Carry The Load National Relay,” which left Seattle last week and will arrive in Dallas on Memorial Day.

Simpson University Participates in ‘Carry the Load’ Relay for Military

REDDING, Calif.—For the second consecutive year, Simpson University participated in Carry the Load’s National Relay as a launching place for a 4.8-mile walk to honor military, veterans, first responders and their families.

About 15 community members joined the walk, which started at 8 a.m. April 29 on campus and followed Churn Creek Road to the south end of Hilltop Drive, where the next relay leg was scheduled. Participants carried flags, and passersby honked in support.

VA National Cemetery Administration partners with Carry The Load to honor veterans and their families

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that its National Cemetery Administration, or NCA, is partnering with Carry The Load, a nonprofit organization that provides active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices made daily by the U.S. military, veterans, first responders and their families.

NCA will participate in Carry The Load’s Memorial May awareness campaign, which covers 40 states, leading up to Memorial Day 2019.

Participants will march or ride bicycles in an 11,500-mile national relay along three routes – East Coast, West Coast and Midwest – handing off an American flag every few miles.

Each participant walks or rides to “carry the load” for a deceased military service member...

YARDLEY, PA — Officials from Yardley Borough, including Mayor Chris Harding, took to the airwaves on Wednesday to promote a campaign to honor America's troops and first responders.

Carry the Load is a Texas-based nonprofit founded by two Navy SEALs. Its mission is to provide "meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation's heroes — military, veterans, first responders and their families."
