LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- People honoring those who died in the line of service passed through Louisville on Thursday.

Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - There are a number of events happening in Southwest Louisiana to commemorate Memorial Day and the sacrifices many of our U.S. military personnel have made to protect our freedoms.

 

Carry the Load relay comes to the Permian Basin

MIDLAND, Texas — Carry the Load will be making its way through the Permian Basin Thursday and Friday.

This year's group will feature two stops in Pecos, a stop in Monahans, three stops in Odessa and six stops in Midland.

Carry the Load relay returning to Keokuk-Hamilton Dam Museum

DALLAS – Carry The Load, a non-profit that provides active ways to connect Americans to the sacrifices of our nation’s military, veterans, first responders and their families, kicks off its 10th Annual National Relay today to raise awareness for the true meaning of Memorial Day. The 32-day, 20,000-mile National Relay includes five routes crossing 48 states and 100 rallies before culminating at the Dallas Memorial March on Memorial Day weekend.

The relay is scheduled to stop at the Keokuk-Hamilton Dam Museum at about 1 p.m. and then be at the Keokuk National Cemetery at about 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.

Dayton Police Department honors fallen detective during ‘Carry the Load’ relay

DAYTON — Dayton Police honored one of their own Wednesday after Det. Jorge Del Rio died in the line of duty in 2019.

On Wednesday, Dayton Police and Montgomery County Sheriff deputies joined a group called “Carry the Load” to honor Del Rio.

Maj. Brian Johns with Dayton Police said, “It means a lot in so many aspects. It’s about Jorge. It’s also all about the tombstones that you see here,”

Carry the Load: Helping to remember military heroes

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — In honor of Military Appreciation Month and Memorial Day on May 30, 3 News Now is supporting the charity Carry the Load and Cody Bandars, a retired Navy SEAL from Omaha who is raising funds for the organization.

According to its website, Carry the Load was founded in Texas in 2011 when two veteran U.S, Navy SEALs started with "a mission to restore the true meaning of Memorial Day. Today, it has grown to include more than just our military heroes and more than just the one holiday. Carry The Load works to bring all Americans together to participate in honoring our nation’s heroes every day."

Carry The Load holds memorial relay to honor and remember Det. Jorge DelRio

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) - Members of the Dayton Police Department are honored to ride a leg in the Carry the Load Memorial Relay (Midwest) which will be dedicated to Detective Jorge DelRio, who was was shot in the line of duty on Nov. 4, 2019, and died three days later.

The part of the bicycle ride honoring Detective DelRio began at 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 18, at Wright State University Police headquarters. It ended at the Dayton National Cemetery on West Third Street. They rode a distance of 12.3 miles on Wednesday. After the ride there was a short ceremony at the cemetery.

‘Carry the Load’ relay to honor fallen military, first responders to pass through El Paso

The 'Carry The Load' relay which honors and remembers fallen military and first responders walked through El Paso Wednesday as part of its 20,000-mile national relay.

Dayton police ride in national relay, remember local detective

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Members of the Dayton Police Department rode a leg in a relay that runs from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Dallas, Texas. Their portion of this event is dedicated to the late Detective Jorge DelRio.

DPD explained that Carry the Load is an organization dedicated to honoring and celebrating the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders and their families.
