Brian served as an EOD tech with the 710th Ordnance Company, 19th Special Forces Group. Brian was killed near Kandahar, Afghanistan on April 15, 2002 during the process of destroying a cache of 107 mm rockets. Brian loved his fellow soldiers, he loved his job and he loved Jesus. He shared Christ with others by how he lived and in a weekly Bible study with others.

Brian exemplified the ideal soldier. Specifically, Brian’s strengths were in several areas: Strong moral and ethical values; Strong physical strength; Strong intellect; Strong compassion for others. Brian fluidly moved between two roles that cause many soldiers problems-the role of the leader and the role of the follower.

Brian quickly and easily recognized which was required of him in a given situation and then he responded accordingly. Brian died fulfilling a calling; willing to risk making the ultimate sacrifice for the freedom that America cherishes. He demonstrated incredible bravery on the battlefield and impeccable character in daily life.
