Tech Sergeant Bynam W. Joel was the first of three brothers to enlist in the United States Army during World War II after the attacks on Pearl Harbor. Entering as a Private, he would rise in rank to Tech Sergeant by the time he deployed to Europe. Along with his whole platoon, Bynam would be killed during the invasion of Italy. It would not be until 1949 that his remains were sent back home to Texas to be laid to rest.
Being the oldest of three sons, Bynam was the leader of the family. He always looked after his mother and brothers.
Bynam Joel lived a life dedicated to serving others. He left a legacy of love for God, family, and country.
