Specialist Dennis Gomez joined the U.S. Army during the COVID-19 pandemic. He was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia with his wife and young sons. Gomez was promoted to Specialist and was serving with the 3rd Combat Aviation Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, when he drowned during a training exercise. Dennis had a larger-than-life quality and a love of adventure. He loved talking to people and hearing about their lives. A great listener, with a warm smile for everyone, he was passionate about self-improvement and the power of positivity. He was a fearless man and a dedicated solider who loved his country. “Dennis’s special humor, perspective, and loving heart will always endure in our memories of him,” recalled his sister, Dannae. “His greatest legacy is the love that continues through his three sons. They are his greatest gift and in them he lives forever.”
