Sergeant James R. Morrison completed basic training at Fort Benning Georgia, then stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky with the second Battalion 506 Infantry. During his tenure at the 101 airborne division, he was deployed to Operation Enduring Freedom. During 2010 to 2013 he was assigned to the second Battalion 12 infantry Regiment at Fort Carson where he was a team leader and deployed to Afghanistan in 2015 to 2016. Morrison was also a seasoned fireman with the Hillcrest volunteer fire company. Returning after three deployments, the demons in his head caused him to take his own life.

Morrison’s awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal for Valor (placed on his uniform by General David Petraeus), 2 Oak leaf clusters, the Army Achievement Medal, one Oak leaf cluster, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Afghanistan campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service ribbon, Overseas Service ribbon, NATO Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Meritorious Unit Citation. He was loved by so many. Forever in our hearts. Missed every second of every day.
