About Matthew Yates
Matthew served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Clark County Sheriff’s department for 15 years. He started his career working in the jail and later transitioned to a road deputy. Matthew was also a proud member of the SOT ( special operations team). Matthew was named officer of the year in 2019.
Matthew was the true definition of community policing. Matthew could be found at your local schools interacting with students, whether it be playing basketball or monitoring the crosswalks. Matthew always made the room light up when he walked in with his big smile. Matthew was a true team player and would always be there when his co-workers needed him.
Matthew is the definition of service above self. He would put others before himself. His co-workers always said you felt a little safer when Yates was around. Matthew never met a stranger and treated everyone with respect.
