Staff Sergeant Stephen M. New was a combat medic assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Jackson, Mississippi. He died in Bagram, Afghanistan of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by small arms fire in the Sarobi District of Kabul Province, Afghanistan.

Stephen was wild, crazy and always ready for adventure! He was highly intelligent and could accomplish anything he set out to do. He loved skateboarding, skiing, and any type of adventure. He was a loyal friend to so many over his short life.

Stephen never settled for comfort or routine. He pushed himself to try new things and always learn something new. The best way to honor Stephen’s life is to try new things and never settle for the status quo.
