LOUISVILLE, Ky. — He carried the American Flag and a book bag full of names of those who are no longer here to join in on the cause.
"When my knee gets sore, or when we're walking our ninth or tenth mile for the day, we think about all the names we're carrying and suddenly, all our problems don't seem so bad," Eric Ellis said.

Walkers invited to join in “Carry The Load” today in Dunlap
May 16, 2019 – Carry the Load will come through Dunlap this afternoon, and residents of the area are invited to walk with the volunteers who are part of the annual relay across the country.
According to the website, “Carry The Load is a non-profit dedicated to providing active, meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made by our nation’s heroes — military, veterans, first responders and their families.”
Three different routes take volunteers on foot and by bicycle from the east coast, the west coast, and the Midwest cross-country for 32 days, to end in Dallas, Tex., on May 27 – Memorial Day.

Group comes to Louisville on a mission to raise awareness for fallen heroes

Carry the Load honoring the sacrifices of our nation's heroes, making the remembrance of people's loved ones bigger than just a holiday. Leading up to Memorial Day, the non-profit group is hosting three relay walks to raise awareness for the true meaning of the holiday.
Eric Ellis, a paramedic, began volunteering with Carry the Load seven years ago.

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) - The Carry The Load organization held an event Wednesday to honor fallen military service members, first responders, and their families.
Carry The Load is a non-profit organization that assists in providing active ways to honor and celebrate American heroes.
The event took place May 15 at 10 am at the Dayton National Cemetery, and educated Dayton youths on patriotism, healing for military veterans, first responders, and their families; and honor those who have died for our freedom.

SYCAMORE TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) - The non-profit Carry the Load, which honors the memory of our fallen heroes, hosts walks and bike rides in cities from coast to coast during a 32-day relay. On May 15, they’ll kick off a relay at Bechtold Park in Sycamore Township.

Walking, biking group honors Deputy Herrera while passing through El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - Members of the national organization "Carry the Load" are continuing their walking and biking journey across the country in honor of service men and women who lost their lives in the line of duty.
On Wednesday, the group is walking through El Paso with the name of fallen Deputy Peter Herrera on their backs. Every day, members write names of fallen heroes on their backs and carry them with them.
"When we came into El Paso County, we started carrying Peter Herrera's and we will carry him all the way through El Paso," volunteer David Lindsey told KTSM. "Once we get through El Paso, we'll take his tag and we'll put inside a backpack and he will go all the way to Dallas with us."

Carry The Load relay to return to Hunt County

Area residents are planning to participate in a long walk in support of America’s veterans.
The East Coast Relay of the “Carry The Load” walk will return to Hunt County during the Memorial Day weekend.
It is the sixth year in a row Carry The Load has come through Greenville on its way to its final destination in Dallas.

Carry the Load to stop at Fort Hood for Memorial Day event

Carry The Load, a nonprofit dedicated to providing active, meaningful ways to honor and celebrate the sacrifices made the military, veterans, first responders and their families, will rally at the Fort Hood 1st Cavalry Division Horse Detachment May 23 as part of its 4,600-mile West Coast Relay.
The rally at Fort Hood is at 2 p.m., after which the relay will depart for a 22-mile bike ride to Belton and ending the day with a 35-mile bike ride to Waco.
